Mike is an Assistant Professor In Accounting at the University of Iowa with a PhD from Cornell University. He researches how to better understand investor decision making with the goal of better representing investors' perspectives to regulators and standard setters. His research is motivated by the time he spent at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) working on improving public company disclosures.
Dr. Mike Durney's experience at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) showed him investors' perspectives are underrepresented and underappreciated by policy makers (e.g., FASB, SEC, Congress). His research aims to change that by better understanding investor decision making. Unfortunately, most investors are too busy making money to participate in academic research, saving time and money in the short run but incurring long-term costs as regulations are passed without enough investor input. Join me in this webcast to learn more about Dr. Durney's research and how you can get involved. Together, we can help capital market regulations better reflect investors' reality.
